ESG at Invest Energy

As a concentrated ESG asset manager, we believe that embracing sustainable investing standards will drive value creation for our stakeholders – including our clients and their beneficiaries, our employees, shareholders, business partners and broader society —now and in the future as we head towards net-zero 2050.

Our Guiding ESG Principles

Sustainable Development Goals

Climate Action

Contribution to global climate mitigation goals and the Paris Agreement by financing the low carbon energy transition in emerging markets.

INDUSTRY, INNOVATION & INFRASTRUCTURE

Reduction in electricity consumption and capital cost savings through investments in energy-efficient technology and infrastructure.

Affordable & Clean Energy

Enabling access to clean energy solutions by financing microgrid projects in off-grid/underserved areas that are  otherwise dependent on more expensive and pollutive  diesel-fueled power.

Decent Work

Integration of human rights, social and health and safety requirements in labour supply chain contracting.

Gender Equality

Integration of gender criteria in assessing investment risks and opportunities, and inclusion of gender-related KPIs  during portfolio monitoring.

Life on and Below Water

Integration of biodiversity aspects in project screening, siting and development of solar PV and onshore/offshore wind farms, aligned with IFC Performance Standard 6.

Our Net-Zero Commitment

We support the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas (‘GHG’) emissions by 2050.

Integrating ESG Considerations into Our Investment Process

ESG is embedded throughout our investment process, starting with the initial due diligence through to the exit of the investment. Below is a summary of how we integrate ESG factors.

A high-level initial assessment is undertaken adhering to our ESG guidelines
We tailor our due diligence to each investment and follow a structured approach, leveraging relevant industry framework
All potential investments must incorporate our ESG matters into their evaluation and be approved by the Investment Committee
Upon development or acquisition, we create a tailored integration plan

Renewable Power

An Integrated 2MW ORC Waste Heat Recovery plant (first in Malaysia) to generate electricity and cooling for the manufacturing plant and zero reduction in flaring of toxic gases.

Energy Infrastructure

Cadbury Malaysia aspires to achieve optimal energy efficiency and a reduction in cost. Invest Energy helped make this happen by using its Tri-Generation solution to supply its plant in Shah Alam, Selangor
